Senior Imaging Engineer

Role:

Contribute to the specification, evaluation, development, troubleshooting, and enhancement of the imaging chain for X-Ray imaging systems in a multi-disciplinary product development team.  Developing custom CT systems for medical, veterinary, security, and industrial applications.

Duties:

1.      Work with customers to determine the imaging requirements of their application and document them.

2.      Translate customer imaging requirements into engineering specifications for both hardware and software.

3.      Evaluate the image quality of existing products using both industry standard and custom techniques.

4.      Develop algorithms and techniques for new imaging chains such as:

Raw data quality checks                                 Dark/offset correction

Air/Gain corrections                                       Beam-hardening corrections

Spectral corrections                                        Geometry verification/corrections

Ring correction                                               Construction of projections

Re-binning of projections into sinograms      Tomographic reconstruction

Iterative reconstruction                                  Post-filter kernels

5.      Troubleshoot Imaging problems such as non-uniformity, noise, rings, stars, shadows, etc.

Requirements:

Candidate should have a Ph.D., or an equivalent combination of education and experience, in a technical field such as Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.  A strong familiarity with X-Ray imaging and Tomographic imaging is required.

Candidate should have strong algorithm development and data analysis capability and skills with some toolset such as Matlab, Python/PyMat, GEANT/GATE, Root or similar and the ability to learn new tools.

 Strong Linux skills.

 Very strong written and oral communication skills in English with a wide variety of personality types and audiences is essential.

 This is principally an in-person job with some work-from-home flexibility

 Desirable:

Ability to write production software in Python/C/C++ is a bonus.
